............

#1. How do you acquire your coins (raw or slabbed)?;

#2. If you acquire them raw do you hold them raw or submit for slabbing?;

#3. Do you acquire them to hold indefinitely in your collection or do you acquire them to resell them?;

#4. How long have you been in the chase for these coins?;

#5. If you acquire them to resell them, have you made a profit on reselling them?;

#6. If you resell them, in what venue do you resell (i.e. E-bay, BST, etc.)?;

#7. If you chase these coins raw, what is your experience in finding these coins (i.e. has it gotten harder over the years; are sellers less willing to sell at bid when nice CAM or DCAM coins are in the sets; what series and years are the hardest to find in CAM and same question for DCAM; are you aware of an increase in the number of collectors searching for these coins)?;

#8. What do the dealers you have acquired these coins from think about you and your efforts to find CAM/DCAM coins (i.e. resentful that you cherrypicked them and they will not sell to you anymore; happy to let you look through every set they have; willing to sell to you at or around bid even if a DCAM is in the set; willing to sell to you, but at a price well above bid since a CAM or CDAM is in the set; could not care at all about CAM or DCAM coins)?;

#9. What sets, if any have you completed in the past, what sets are you working on now and do you endlessly upgrade your completed sets?

#10. Regardless of whether you collect raw or slabbed coins, is the hunt for them more fun than owning them?;

#11. Have you shown your coins/sets to collectors who have not caught the CAM/DCAM bug and if so, what response have you received?; and

#12. What are your favorite series and what are your favorite coins?

Now after answering all of the above questions, treat us with a post of your favorite CAM/DCAM coins.

    Sheese, I am trying to start a discussion here and all I get is "yes"?

    Try again Lucy & Russ. Next time I promise to try to cut down the words in my post. Hard to do for a lawyer though, since we get paid for talking and writing.

    I am not an over excesive D-cam fan in older coins.The cam designation is fine with me when comparing a bright stright strikes to a cam strikes.You can see the difference and that's what matters between the two.......................image

    Wow - all those questions. You must be a lawyer. image

    Here are my answers to the interrogation:

    #1. How do you acquire your coins (raw or slabbed)?; BOTH

    #2. If you acquire them raw do you hold them raw or submit for slabbing?; BOTH

    #3. Do you acquire them to hold indefinitely in your collection or do you acquire them to resell them?; BOTH

    #4. How long have you been in the chase for these coins?; 1989

    #5. If you acquire them to resell them, have you made a profit on reselling them?; YES YES YES

    #6. If you resell them, in what venue do you resell (i.e. E-bay, BST, etc.)?; EBay, BST, word of mouth

    #7. If you chase these coins raw, what is your experience in finding these coins (i.e. has it gotten harder over the years; are sellers less willing to sell at bid when nice CAM or DCAM coins are in the sets; what series and years are the hardest to find in CAM and same question for DCAM; are you aware of an increase in the number of collectors searching for these coins)?; VERY MUCH HARDER NOW THAN 5 YEARS AGO.

    #8. What do the dealers you have acquired these coins from think about you and your efforts to find CAM/DCAM coins (i.e. resentful that you cherrypicked them and they will not sell to you anymore; happy to let you look through every set they have; willing to sell to you at or around bid even if a DCAM is in the set; willing to sell to you, but at a price well above bid since a CAM or CDAM is in the set; could not care at all about CAM or DCAM coins)?; Nobody refuses to sell or let me look thru their inventory. Prices range from below bid to ask.

    #9. What sets, if any have you completed in the past, what sets are you working on now and do you endlessly upgrade your completed sets? All denominations from 1950 to present. Sets I am working on are a secret.

    #10. Regardless of whether you collect raw or slabbed coins, is the hunt for them more fun than owning them?; Both are fun but the hunt makes the heart pound more.

    #11. Have you shown your coins/sets to collectors who have not caught the CAM/DCAM bug and if so, what response have you received?; Only shown to others on occasion, they reside in a bank. So I am now imaging all the pieces for inclusion in the Registry.

    #12. What are your favorite series and what are your favorite coins? Franklins and Lincolns. Especially early '50's.

    Here is one of my favorites that I found raw for $4.50. Now resides in a PCGS PR69 dcam holder.

  • Raw to the bone, or is it Bad to the bone, let me tell you a little chinese secret. I buy and sell and keep only the coins I think that are perfect as we all know nothing is perfect in the world, I chose my coins wisely because I can snipe a buyer into thinking that he will have a coin different from the rest, tell him/her about the qualities, show them comparisions, so to answer your question D/cam, Cam, Cam Shaft or whatever Cam I think they are over rated. God Bless you and God Bless America. I don't think I made any sense in this thread, I have a bad back and take Oxycontin for pain, so what comes out my mine the time I write I hope its helpful, I did make some people mad the other day when I said the J word so, time for bed.
