Good stuff to know. Thanks.
There's a couple of commems that I like and am thinking about pourchasing.
You have to compare quite a few coins of the same issue and arrive at your own conclusions about who is doing a job that is more consistent with your own grading standards.
Commems and Early Type
<< <i>From my experience, the answer depends on the issue you are comparing. I happen to think NGC does a better job keeping banged-up ARKS out of 66 holders than PCGS for example. On the other hand, PCGS seems to to be much better (and tighter) with grading Wash-Carvers. As much as I love NGC coins and have many color ones, I am much more critical when buying their 67's in any issue as I often can't see why some of their Grants, Columbians, and Lynchburgs and Oregons have made it to 67 or 68 holders.

Awesome info!
I'm interested in the Texas and Antietam commems.
Here's my one and only Texas in NGC MS65:

I think PCGS and NGC are pretty even grading Antietams in MS66, my preferred grade for this issue.
For the Texas issue I think PCGS is usually more conservative than NGC, again in the MS66 grade.
Grab a bluesheet and compare PCGS and NGC prices for any issue you are considering for purchase. Likely the pop numbers in the same grade and higher should give you a good idea of which grading service is more conservative.
