Mislabeling 2005 Lincolns as MS69RD BS instead of SF?????

Has anyone here on the boards (especially someone who hangs out on the NGC boards) heard any rumors about NGC mislabeling 2005 P & D Lincolns as business strike when they REALLY are Satin Finish???? If so, please respond via PM. I have 2005-P & D lincoln cents (MS69RD) that appear to be SF but they are not marked as such on the holder. image

Thanks!

  • That's not a bad thing... a BS MS69 will bring a lot more than a SF.

If that's so, it will only last until people realize there are mislabeled slabs out there. The holder-buyers, I mean.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I currently have a 2005-P and a 2005-D in PCGS MS69RD SF. I personally made them last year. However, my goal is to also acquire these coins in business strike in 68 or 69 (yes I know the pops are screaming low at PCGS). Although the label may state that they are business strike, I know in my heart that they are not. I wouldn't be misleading anyone but myself.

I have an email into the guy that sold me the coins to see if he personally cherry-picked them out of rolls or what the story is. I suspect that they were labeled wrong and the seller will make good on my money.

P.S. I am still going thru rolls everyday searching for a nice 2005-P. So far I have only found one that has a fighting chance of PCGS 67/68!

  • I can't say (going through rolls) that I've yet to find a 2005 68/+, the ones I'm using in my "fun" collection are 66-67 late die state.
