Got bored and bought some uncleaned - doing a test

Well I got bored and purchased some uncleaned ancients from various dealers, on ebay and off. I plan on doing a quality test of the various dealers. So far bought from:

oldcoinman- on ebay; purchased 20 @ $1.85 each including shipping

romannoblecoins.com- off ebay; purchased 20 @ $2.23 each including shipping

forumancientcoins.com- off ebay; purchased 20 @ $2.15 each including shipping

collectors_choice- on ebay; purchased 100 @ $1.28 each including shipping


I will update my initial observations when they arrive and then follow-up as the cleaning progresses.


What am I thinking? I think I have buyers remorse and they haven't arrived yet.

    Don't worry, shiroh is an expert on boiling uncleaned ancients after leaving them soaking for months in various kinds of liquids. I'm sure he'll be delighted to share his recipes. image

    No gold, once in a long while silver.

    I really plan on taking my time cleaning these. Obviously not a money maker but it is sort of relaxing to clean them and given that I don't have much free time these will last quite a while.
