A la carte cable pricing could have effect on coin market

As many of you may know there is a growing movement in Congress for cable systems to let people
choose what cable channels they want to watch instead of getting groups of channels "bundled" together
like things are done now.
If this comes to pass I would guess many people would dump the shop at home kind of channels
that include the overpriced coin offerings that many people here complain about. Since these are mostly
an impulse buy kind of thing I think many people would opt out on these channels if given a chance.
This could have an effect on the coin market especially if many people drop the channels there would
be less coin sales and less demand at the wholesale level especially for the really common everyday kinds
of coins that they sell.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I hope you're kidding.

You will only save pennys and get a lot less channels.
We need a better deal than this scam offers.

I'm not. What is the flaw in this logic? Fewer people watching the channel = fewer sales and less
demand for coins.
This is what is commonly referred to as, "feel good legislation".
This topic deserves as much of your thought process at it takes to read this thread.
<< <i>I had a la carte cable where I used to live and it was great. For $12.00 per month I got basic cable with the major networks and smoe local channels. For an extra fifty-cents per channel per month I added the History Channel, A&E, and a couple of others. It was a good deal. >>
If it becomes mandatory, you can bet that the good deals like that will vanish since the cable companies will no longer have the high profit package deals to subsidize it. Slipgate is right. This is feel good legislation.

the content providers, disney, espn, whatever, should pay the cable company to put their stuff on my tube. in fact, they should pay for the access to my house by giving me the wire connection for free. i pay only for the local 'free' air channels.
THEY should be paying me to watch their junk/krap, not the other way around.
as for the arguement, 'oh the small market content/channels will go out of business without the blanket cable charge....' well some of that junk needs to be out of business. why am i paying for dog shows? why am i paying for the golf channel, i like to play but not to pay for the channel. and then theres the all day all nite shopping/marketing. why do i pay for all day shopping? they should be paying me.
