Still on easy street with my original million, no movement at all. 187th place image

I lost $380 today as well, I had some platinum that tanked overnight but then again, it made me more than it cost me. image

I missed the boat on the high reliefs and octagonals. I had 3 or so of each in my original portfolio and dumped them for some rarities coming to auction. I could have had 3 MS66 high reliefs at $82,000 and now they are at $87,500. image Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks Brandon, I appreciate you sharing this info. It is kind of you.
I first chased after life long wants , then realized I had to throw my heart out of the game and think like a business man..... attempting to utilize my resources to grow my wealth with a chance for ten grand.

    edit to add:
Purchased $50 Octagonal and round on this info. (commemorative gold pan pac )

    Up $11,000 today!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Moved from 154th to 64th today. 'Bout time those Seated Halves did something. Sold those that went up. Moving the cash to another dead series tonight.

If I tell you what I had in my portfolio, you might run after. It really did confuse me at first with having so much money at once and not planning. Oh, I first chased after life long wants on a personal basis, then realized I had to throw my heart out of the game and think like a business man..... attempting to utilize my resources to grow my wealth with a chance for ten grand.

I know there are some serious folks out there that dare not even type a word about the game or the avenues of approach, but it is enlightening to open up here.....after all, what is the definition of "FORUM" ? >>

I really don't care if people know what I have in my portfolio. I'd post it here if anyone even cares to see it. I certainly don't mind talking about it. I've posted before what I was doing in regards to adding coins to my portfolio and when the ANR auction ends, I'll see if it paid off. I'm way too busy to spend hours looking for anomalies in the price guide. I'd rather peruse auction catalogs and see what rarities are for sale and track them through my own business interests while casually updating my portfolio with new items when I get around to it. I'm like most that are in it, not exactly to win, but to have fun. My most expensive coin is an Octagonal in MS65. They are $135,000 in the price guide and there are only 14 with 1 higher in MS66. If the demand for this coin continues I could reasonably see this coin at $150,000 in 3-4 months.

I made $2800 the first day, and haven't moved since. I may have to rethink my "fundamentalist" strategy and start searching for pricing quirks.

Wow, I made $28,000 today. I moved from 150th place to 25th place. I spent $750,000 the first couple of days with no movement and wham. Not bad with $250,000 still to spend.

Did pretty good last night. Move up from 138 to 130 last night with a loss of $350 but gained $810 over all this evening for a total gain of $2310.00

I dropped 32 grand today, am 334th out of 334 and think I'll take a part-time gig at WalMart, just to keep me off these boards.
  • Twosides....

What are you invested in that you keep losing $$$$? I'm doomed in the seated area, but I doubt they will take a dump.

image gulp... well I was the proud owner of 451 1909 IHCs in MS 65 RED ( great choice folks image) they dropped fifty bucks from $700 to $650 and then image I bought 100 MS66's 1947D Walkers out of, shall we say SENTINMENTAL reasons ?
Those dropped from 700 to 600 to 500 in just so many days. Which, in reality, makes me happy.

I love this game and think it is one of the greatest attractions since the ferris wheel.
    edit to add:

and wasn't it a good time to buy silver or is it now ?
  • It is fun, but I don't keep up with all of the major auctions to see what is really happening, so I doubt we've got any chance at all. If it wasn't already a known thing that the PCGS Price Guide was not something to *believe* some might get their clocks *clocked* while this game is going on with all of the changes and using it as a guide. Granted.... some coins may be going for these prices, but they are not the average of what is really going on.
