It trends for $2500 so what gives?

Grading standards have become much more liberal in the last 20 years since this coin was graded a 64, I believe PCGS last used these holders in 1989. Gold most notably is graded much easier so this is essentially a roll of the dice by the buyer hoping the coin upgrades.

It's a rattler. With rattlers and toners, anything is possible.

Kind of hard to say w/ the photos, but send it to NGC and the coin could come back a 66

Ive participated many times in over-bidding on blurry rattler photos, have purchased several 1945 mercs in standard PCGS holders at many multiples of bid hoping to get a nice full struck coin, not necessarily a FSB, but above average. Have yet to get lucky though.
