So now that I'm getting back into coins, I picked up a tripod and tried my hand at photographing one

The coin is nothing special obviously, but I think it turned out pretty decent eh?

Tell us, has the tripod made a difference in your photos?
without it I'd have to use the flash or it wouldnt focus worth a damn, and ofcourse with the flash it looks horrible
A bit of constructive criticism: The second photo is a touch overexposed (like 1/3 of a stop or so) -- some of the highlights (white areas) are blown. The first one's exposure is dead on, but I don't like the light positioning as it shows Lincoln's face in shadows.
These are really nits, the photos are really nice.
Take care...Mike
I recently bought a mini tripod and I like it. I did have to tape 3 rolls of cents to one leg to get it not to tip over but, other than that, it is one of the things that has recently helped make my pictures sharper and more reproducible.

Even I wish I was joking with that one..but sadly its true. There are a few others named worse, but Ill keep them to myself. Appearently the Amish have quit a sense of humor...
