Puckett died

I thought everything went fine with the surgery. ESPN is reporting that Kirby Puckett passed away.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

  • Well, how sad that is. image Everyone should count their blessings everyday. One of our friend's sister also passed away over the weekend from cancer. She too was in her forties.

    RIP, Kirby
  • Chuck Norris sends his condolences.

Would it be inappropriate to say women in public restrooms across the world just breathed a sigh of relief?

  • No, but it would be safe to say that you are a moron.

    Rest in peace Kirby

Wow what a shock...it's always a shock to see a player who you enjoyed watching play the game pass away.

    Rest in peace, Kirby.
  • Truly sad. A kid from the projects of Chicago that rose to become a HOF'er. He even attended my community college - Triton College in River Grove, IL.

    RIP Kirby

    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
    3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris
  • RIP Kirby

Thanks for the great memories in 1987 and 1991. I'll never forget game 6 of the 1991 World Series when he was rounding the bases in the bottom of the 11th after his homerun and Jack Buck says "and we'll see you tomorrow night!"

  • RIP Kirby. You can rest assured that if there's a game "Up There", Kirbys playing in it.
  • Puckett was my childhood hero, my started playing when I was 5 T-ball age. And announced this retirement my junoir year of H.S. And I thought that was a hard day.

I will remember Kirby for all that he did on the field, his comitic personallilty, his love for the game, and his smile.image

Early deaths among NFL players are not uncommon - the sheer brutality of that game doesn't usually bode well for a long life span. But it is shocking to see a MLB player die this young. Of course Lou Gehrig died young and a few others. Very sad indeed.

I was born and raised in the Twin Cities, and went to many Twins games in the 80's and 90's, including playoffs in both 1987 and 1991. The metrodome was magical during the series'. I am totally shocked and numb by this. I am not that much younger than Kirby. RIP man!!
