Here's a new one for me - a voice from the past - Edit Mystery Solved

Hi ,

My name is Walter Bxxxxxxx. I bought a 2002 Silver Eagle from you thru EBay on 10/7/2002 for $40.05. If you remember this sale or have any info about it, I'd like to know why I paid $40.05, when it sold for $6.11 + $7.00 shipping + $2.50 ins coming up to a total of $15.61 and not $40.05.
I know this happened over 3 years ago, but I was going thru my coin purchase prices when I saw this.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Walter

    Man, if I could get $7 for shipping a SAE, plus get the guy to pay $2.50 to insure his $6 coin on top of that, I'd be sitting pretty image

    This is a little out there, but maybe he is saying that he paid $40.05 3 years ago for a deal that was supposed to have only been $15.61, as in he overpaid an invoice or something?

    Relayer if he wants to know why he paid 40 bucks why is he asking you?

    He ought to be asking himselfimage

    What am I missing here? I read his inquiry just like Jayboxx and DickyBetz did. He is saying that he was looking over some old records, and saw that he bid $6.11 for the silver eagle, plus $7.00 shipping, plus $2.50 for insurance, which should have been a total of $15.61. Yet he apparently paid $40.05, and was merely inquiring as to why he was charged that much. He did not ask for any money back. He simply asked for any help or additional information you might give. Sounds like a good question to me. And yes, I get $15.61 too.

    Edited to add: Did he, in fact, buy five of them? Mystery solved.

    You guys figured it out!

    I found an old backup and located the transaction. It was a dutch auction and he won 5 of them @ $6.11 with $3 S/H on the first and $1 for each additonal. Since the total was under $50 he got ripped on insurance though.

    $6.11
    $6.11
    $6.11
    $6.11
    $6.11
    ====
    $30.55
    _$3.00 S/H on 1st
    _$1.00 S/H on 2nd
    _$1.00 S/H on 3rd
    _$1.00 S/H on 4th
    _$1.00 S/H on 5th
    =====
    $37.55
    _$2.50 insurance
    =====
    $40.55

    Walter is happy now.

    Hopefully I'll be able to answer his bookkeeping questions again in the year 2009 image

    Thank you very much for the info. My PayPal listing doesn't show that I bought more than one, but it makes sense now that you've explained it to me.
    Again, thanks for your time and swift answer.
