I was very suprised, and very happy. I was just doing some searching on ebay for previous sales, which I really can not find any image

That's a great score - very tough to find in cameo. Of course, value depends on the grade, but Russ' estimate is not far off.

Let us know what you get from NGC.

Wow, this is a bit of Deja Vu for me - I received the second PCGS graded cameo Type 1. (still own it)

Very Nice!!! That is a very hard coin to make in CAM. I made one about 6 months ago and Russ is right on with the price. Between $500-$600
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I wouldn't place too much stock in that single sale. The buyer frequently ponies up well above market money for coins he wants.

Damn, I'm going to have to start looking for those again!!

not really worried about price, as this was headed for a drill bit until AL stopped me.

as for teletrade prices, I dont take much stock in those or ebay prices for that matter...I have always taken the cream of the crop, list for a buck no reserve, and let it fly.

    and I was never disappointed

george if you remember the original post on this, I was ready to nuke this sucker trying to get the haze off it. I was at the point where I was going to drill it and make an xmas ornement out of it, until Al stopped me, and at the time I had no clue about type 1 & 2

thats one thread, there was another from the same day that detailed my exploits of trying to shine that bad boy upimage

    edited to ad:

the post before that one is what made AL pm me and tell me to knock off the fun and games, and suggested it was a type 1

when you consider the popularity of the Franklin series it's strange that the Type One in higher Cameo and any DCAM doesn't sell for much higher. i assume that collectors wanting a 1956 Proof choose the easier Type Two which is one of the better dates in the series for strike/frost/contrast. seeing as there's some lag time till you get your coin, Bill, maybe you'll consider sitting on it for the long term. it's really a no-lose proposition when you consider it was in the "junk" box!!!image

ebay searches were mainly to get an idea of what NGC considers 68cam...the haze on that sucker being so bad, and 2 ms70 swims didnt really touch it...im dying to see what NCS did for it

i also came across a few on ebay in high grades and cam that were not conserved, making me wonder if cracked and conserved wouldnt go higher
