This f**king guy represents my worst, by far, ever investment in baseball cards. In the early 90's, I loaded up beyond belief with his rookie cards - to my extreme future displeasure.

  • Kind of in the same line. I remember listening to the Yankees-Rangers ALDS in 1998, after Shane Spencer had taken the league by suprise with a .373 BA and .910 SLG and 10 HR's in only 27 games. He was hitting with runners on and Bob Costas said "If Spencer gets ahold of one here they might as well start erecting his monument in center field......."

I was setting up at card shows heavily in 1998 and I remember the Spencer craze. I never understood why collector's get crazy like that. Dealers make a ton of money from these crazes and collector's are left holding the crap in 6 months. When these things happen, dealers buy 5 cards for $15 and sell them for $100 ten minutes later, over and over all day long. It's great if your on the winning end of those transactions.
  • Add that guy from the Indians in the early 80's too!

    Joe Chsthashgkknbinoa or something..
    Am I speaking Chinese?

Hensley Meulens has gotten the shaft. He should def be in there ..... only a 15 career home runs but he was a Yankee. That should be good enough. image

How could I forget one of the all time pinstriped greats......Dan Pasqua. For one summer he gave us the thrill of a lifetime....and he also provided me with a 300 count box of worthless rookie cards. If that doesnt qualify for hall of fame I dont what does.

lol I am going to wake up shaking and in a cold sweat tonight just having flashbacks of some of those teams ! It truly is a wonder how the Yankees managed to be so bad for that stretch with the league and the media clearly favoring them.
