Hoping that rim hit at 12 o'clock is not as bad as the photo makes it... I would say 20...

It is a narrow date 1802. Type is Bolender 6 (BB-241) with the major diagnostic being the defective base of the "T" in LIBERTY on the obverse. I'd say it's fine 15-18, but I have some concerns about that "hit" at noon. The TPG's are pretty forgiving in their bodybagging of these old large coins, but if there's an attempted repair there, which it looks like there may be, they're likely to return it ungraded. B6/BB241 is a very common variety, one of the most common in the entire series, let alone an 1802.

Thanks for the feedback. I only had a Breen book to determine the which variety it is, but it looks like Breen talks about the Bolender 6 variety and that its the most attainable variety. It is currently in a F15 holder, but I also am concerned about the hit at 12:00. I just bought the coin and its my first early dollar.

You did a great job of taking the picture. It looks raw but you wrote that it is still in the holder. They did a good job of grading it too. It has strong fine details. It is hard to say what is goin on just about the B at the top. Hope it is just a rim bump. It is pretty minor considering how many of these early dollars were mistreated.
