That's a neat coin. Please don't make us guess at the grade too long, as from what I see that's very hard to do. Based on the pic, it looks like it has great luster, with minimal interruptions, balanced against a really soft strike. AU58? MS61?

Looks like a high end 58. I have been wondering when you would start on the gold in you r1857 mint set. It is coming along nicely.

Yeah, I got an 1878-S PCGS 65 VAM-19 dollar. A neat variety, though not on the top-100 or hot-50 lists. (lot 1747)

JoshL, I see you picked up that 85-CC hot-50 in the hoard holder. I cherried one on TT a while back in the same grade. They rebanded it with the VAM designation for ten bucks.

If it was lot 1777, that is a VAM-4 (hot-50, thick dash under the second 8).
