Sell a Jack Morris GU jersey for a big whopping $1.25 +2.99 S/H..buyer has a 0 rating (should have had a no zero clause)...anyway, I have Paypal/MO only for payment. Guy says he's sending a check...I tell him I need a MO (I don't want a 4 dollar check to bounce costing me 20)...anyway he agrees to it.
Then tonight (1 day after auction), he emails me this:
This is michaelcavalieri and I am e-mailing you to notify you that the Jack Morris I ordered is a little too much. I am only telling you this because I found another one just like it for only 0.99 cents with free shipping. I'm sure we will meet again on eBay! Thank you!
I respond...
YOU CAN’T DO THAT ON EBAY…IT IS A BINDING CONTRACT ONCE YOU PLACE A BID…IT COSTS ME TO LIST AN ITEM AS I INCUR LISTING FEES. IF YOU DON’T PLAN ON PAYING, I WILL BE FORCED TO SUBMIT A NEGATIVE RATING! ONCE YOU BID, YOU ARE LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO PAY FOR THE ITEM, NO MATTER IF YOU FIND ONE FOR ANOTHER PRICE….THIS IS NOT A GAME AS IF YOU DON’T PAY FOR THE ITEM, I WILL HAVE TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR PLANS ARE!
His response...
I'm sorry I guess you will have to leave a negative feedback this time. I'm sorry.
WHAT A TOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You leave the negative, he gives you a negative right back, and then he has a new ID with a 0 again next week. Make sure to file the unpaid item strike so you can get the negative taken away.
File for his name/address/phone # too just to mess with his head a little bit.
<< <i>anyone have the link where I can check to see what he's bidding/won so i can let the sellers know to axe his bids? >>
Click here, supply his eBay ID
I should freak him out and call his parents...lol
<< <i>I have his name/address/ even phone number... I won't leave a negative unless he does....looks like a kid bidding on stuff...

Probably. Just be sure to get your fees back by using the non-paying bidder eBay process. I wouldn't even mess with the negative. It'll cost you more than him in the end.
Regards,
Alan

Well, you could restrict bidding on your auctions to a set minimum amount of feedback before being allowed to bid. Otherwise, these low dollar high volume items will always bring the swill with it. ALWAYS

The lowest feedback you can restrict is "0," so there will always be eBay jerks out there. Just watch the ol' Blood Pressure and don't let it get you down.

Jesus Christ, dude-- it's a two dollar card. Just let it go.

This is ebay. There are no principles
<< <i>and you have a great evening too Boopotts....thanks for your kind words of wisdom, I will certainly take them into consideration, might even have them printed up so that I don't forget for future wisdom old great one.... >>
You can take my comments any way you want-- I can't do anything about that. But IMO if a 2$ transaction gone wrong bothers you enough to not only consider stalking the offender online but also to take the time to post a message on a public message board about how violated you feel then Ebay probably isn't for you.
There are scores of idiots on Ebay. Hell, thousands would be more accurate. And in the 6 years I've been on Ebay I've dealt with every kind of moron under the sun--- just as have many other posters here. The difference is that when I get screwed by a flaky Ebay I don't fly into a rage and vent on a message board.
I'm really not trying to get on your case about this, because let's face it-- the other guy is in the wrong, not you. But when this kind of stuff happens I think you're best bet is to do what Steve said and just let it go.

Do you live in Vegas? Just wondering because of your handle.
<< <i>I see auctions where the seller strikes down bids made by those who have less feedback then say 25 or whatever stated in the auction. >>
Sure, you can cancel, as a seller, any bid you want. I was referring to having eBay block bidders according to feedback.

Your point is taken...first time someone has done this to me and it pissed me off, even if it was for a small amount...I guess what pissed me off was the buyers flippant attitude about the whole thing...

I will agree that the buyer is a clueless tool.
