A manuscript from 1776? What do you think?

OT: I thought the story line of this manuscript to be very interesting and unusual, and dates from 1776!

A slave in Peru was given her freedom, plus given her owner's land and houses, upon his death, according to this letter, circa 1776.

PERU -SPAIN LIBERTY WOMAN SLAVE MANUSCRIPT(1776) RARE

I found this to be very interesting. I'm only partially convinced the manuscript is genuine! But for $20, why not! I do buy vintage tobbaco items from this seller in Peru.

I just see "red flags" that he sells so many manuscripts from the early colonial days of South America, can these really be genuine?

Any thoughts?

edit: look a this manuscript (40 years later!) do u see simular paper, stampings, color, etc.? Or maybe its just me?

  • Actually, those type of documents are pretty common and typically sell for $20 or so. Alot of people collect them for the great variety of revenue handstamps at the top of the pages. The content of the document is usually of secondary importance. You can find them even back into the 1600's.
