1984 Topps USFL Steve Young PSA 10

One of my favorite cards is Steve Young's Topps USFL rookie card. I came across an auction for
a 1984 Topps USFL Steve Young PSA 10 by xocompany. Here is the link:

Interesting, he has decided to list the card with a Buy It Now price of $4000.00. Does anyone else
remember this card (might be this EXACT card, but I am not sure...maybe some POP help?) selling
for $12,000.00 a couple of years ago? I can't believe the price of this card has dropped this much.
I'm not sure if I'm willing to drop $4000.00 on this card, but I do know that this is one of the few
cards that I would pay a premium for over a PSA 9 which runs about $350.00.

Further, please note the card is graded by the "infamous" 314 serial number grader.

  • I checked the population report and there are only 5 PSA 10s in existence out of 871 of these submitted submitted....so i guess 20% chance that the one u saw for 12K was this one. Sweet card though!

If u want a harder card of young's to get in PSA 10, its definitely the 1986 topps. Out of 2999 submitted, only 3 PSA 10s and 40 PSA 9s exist.

I do remember a Young 10 selling for $12,000, but at the time it was a 1/1. It took a while for the first 10 to be graded.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • The back looks a touch oc T/B. Maybe not enough to take it off a PSA 10, but not perfect.
