it appears to be from a horde. the coin is prob common as dirt,
and just got graded as BU. not worth examining it further.

with this sly marketing they sold common coins for uncommon money
    i betcha.

I don't think it is from a horde. I never thought PCGS would start slabbing coins without grading them. What is "The Stagecoach Series"? Some sort of promotion?

It's the kind of slab they do for the HSN type of shows on TV. NGC does the same thing.

I didn't know pcgs did those. I well, it looks like they lowered their standard.

  • It is like a souvenir or sample slab.
They just put it in a slab with no serial numbers or grading.
A few years back they were sending out similar slabs with American Eagle Dollar coins in them to members who joined.
The grading services were also known to slab coins at shows in similar ungraded slabs too. Souvenirs.

I believe this is from a bulk submission. I remember someone posting here with the same question, asking about these types of PCGS holders.

fcloud has it. These are TV show promotional slabs. Yes PCGS has sold out to the hawksters, and they did so about two years ago. The PCGS promotional slabs are not as common as the NGC slabs but they are out there.

It's a shame that any reputable grading company would do that.
