If I see one, I'd try to offer $50 image

That's funny you should say that. My son, notlogical, has been begging to go to every estate, yard and garage sale we see so that he can hunt for a Cheerios sac. I'm sure somebody will find one that way. There's got to be a few squirreled away in drawers somewhere. image

I don't think the Cheerios Sac will ever reach $10,000....The Goodacre presentation will get there first...............image
It was slabbed first...............But who knows.... the Cheerios is a finer varitey..........

My dad and I go to yard sales every Saturday for at least four hours image
    I bought a P3 Compaq Armada E500 Laptop as non-working yesterday for $5
I went home and figured out why it wasn't working
They tried to use a printer cable to power it up image
This is laptop #6 now I have in my room.

I also bought four sterling coasters yesterday for fifty cents. They weigh up to 2.2 ozs image

    I image yard sales.
90% of my non-coin posessions is from yard sales image

a person can ask any price they want for their coin..

when a completed transaction occurs at a price, then one can more easily determine "value"

I agree completely, thus the testing of the numismatic waters, not too chilly, actually a little warm, if someone turns up the heat, i wont mind. And if I have to stick it back into my sock drawer, no harm done.

as far as "has it come to this?", I wonder why someone would say that. Is it disbelief that anything could cost 10K? Is it a disbelief that anything minted post 1933 should cost 10K? I see quite a few posts calling modern stuff "crap" and I just laugh, since everything at one point was modern "crap".

I am all for looking into those garage sales, you know some folks had to have stuck some away. My thinking though is, there was a lot of publicity last year, and some Cheerios sacs sold for close to or over $5k. You would have expected to see the sacs come pouring out of the woodworks, but they didnt. Are there really some stuck in drawers somewhere? What will it take to find out? I bet selling some modern crap for 10K might get them searching again. So here we are. image

Seriously, what if there are only 20 left either original or graded? Just modern crap....lol

I'm waiting to hear of some being found in circulation.....I can't imagine a lot of kids who found those, even adults, were coin collectors.....so, many/most probably got opened and spent.

I just don't have the patience to get sac after sac from the bank and look at them all......

LOL--you made me laugh so hard my daughter asked if i was ok. You and Pat were the ones who peaked my interest in this coin in the first place, so from you I will gladly take advice, but isnt it just a little bit fun to watch and see if anything happens? Even if it doesnt sell, a lot more people heard about the neat detective work you did(if they checked the seach engines). I like informing folks about really interesting things, and I love this story on these coins. Honestly, I think 10K is just about right for these coins. Not too high to be a joke, not too low to steal their thunder.

How can you tell if a Sac is a Cheerios one or a normal one? Does anybody have any comparison pictures? (Just curious because I believe that a family member may have pulled one out of a box of Cheerios and put it away in his collection. I'd just like to know what to look for if I was to look at the coin).

Well, first off, that auction description hurts my eyes......unless I REALLY wanted something from that seller, I wouldn't even get past 3-4 words in the description then I would move on.

2ndly, how is it better priced? I didn't see the reserve listed. It is started at $2000 but says "reserve not yet met". So, it may have a reserve above $10k. I don't know....do you?

The Cheerios Sac will be a $10,000,000.00 Coin by the year 2050. Grab them NOW while they're at bargain levels.

ps I expect a loaf of bread will be $50,000.00 in yr 2050 but Coins maintain their freshness better. image

Join the club on that one - I bought a bunch of Cheerios trying to find those Sac dollars, but got stuck with pennies image. But at least I had a lot of snack food and it might have lowered my chlorestorol a bitimage!

I liked that show, maybe I picked it up by osmosis. How does hunky dory or peachy keen sound? LOL, I love it when folks have nothing to say, but then decide they should say it anyways. I dabble in lots of things, I guess I could rap a little, but dude, thats not my thing.
