Worth slabbing? 2006-P Jeff strike thorugh grease?

I have a run of 2006-P Jeffs that are struck through grease. For the purpose of selling are they worth slabbing?

Cheers,

Brian

In my opinion no, particularly with the $40 fee.

In the 2004 or 2005 nickel rolls I found dozens of struck through (paper debris?). You can see how the debris moved around and changed across different coins. I haven't tried selling any, but suspect a couple dollars each is all I could get.

As far as common errors slabbed, I just bought two MS63/64RD Off center Lincolns for $10 each. Not a winning deal for the seller.

  • Definately not worth slabbing. But, for what it's worth, I had a run of Texas quarters that were struck through grease that sold raw on ebay for a little over a buck a piece.

So worth keeping, even selling but not in a slab.

    Thanks

Yea, I'd say so. Some people may disagree. I doubt they'll ever see the amount of premium to justify slabbing, but you never know.

Why would the fee be 40 on these? only because they are errors? It seems more appropriate for these to have the benefit of the modern submission fee.

No. But do put them in 2x2's. Coins like that are selling at coin shows for about $2 to $5. Maybe in the future as error coins become the thing, they will be worth more but not worth slabbing.

    Coinkat,
It could be slabbed as a modern for $14, but the error will not be listed on the holder. To get it to say Struck Through Grease (or whatever) you must pay for the error level of submission, which is $40.

Is the coin really struck through grease? The reason I ask is because I also have a full roll of the Ocean View nickels that have the same description as itsnot justme described. Although I do not believe that these coins have been struck through anything... rather they appear to be struck on slightly smaller/uneven planchets. Or maybe the strike adjustment was not adjusted quite right, thus coins are not fully struck. Thus the reason the areas in question kind of 'shift' around.

There seems to be quite a few of these for the last couple of years on the nickels. Are they worth anything? I don't know... I did see a person trying to sell these for some time on eBay; one roll was sold for 9.99 but no takers on others. Also, this fella was trying to sell single coins for 2-3 dollars each, but I did not see any takers on the individual coins. But I did not search back very far.

The roll of nickels that I have.... has every single coin with some of the 'softness' or 'struck through grease' or whatever it is, in some degree.... some coins have lots of affected areas... some not so much. So I really don't think the coins were struck through anything.
