Have I lost my mind completely ?!?!

OK, so I have nearly finished my ZAR & Rijksdaalder sets and am thinking of the following:
To collect every type of American Gold Coin ( just by type not by mintmark or die variety ) with a minimum standard of MS 62.
Only coins graded by PCGS & NGC will be bought.
Is this achievable without paying more then say 1,000 Euro for a coin ?
I know this isn't Darkside but your opinions are valued.

From your vantage point perhaps US coins are sort of darksidish, but still -
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

I'd better start looking for a darkside avenue as well I guess.

<< <i>Not a complete set. What you could do is have a Liberty 2 1/2, 5, 10 and 20 and and Indian 2 1/2, 5 and 10 and a 20 saint... that is possible >>
Right. Just take a look at the Red Book to see what you'd be getting yourself into with a full set.
Of course, if you've got so much spare cash burning multiple holes in your pockets, I have an 1896 half pond I'd let go cheap at 1000 Euro!

Ron Guth recommends the cheapest way to buy an American Gold set is to buy a denomination set which contains 6 coins ( $1, $2.50, $3, $5, $10 and $ 20 ). Although if I do delve into this I would probably miss out on Elias Gold.
<< <i>Aha - a 1/2 Pond, now I'm in familiar territory. What's it graded at Jester ? If I remember correctly you were sending it of for slabbing so I assume that you have it back. >>
Sorry, I don't have it back yet.
