Cheerios Sac on the Bay

Decided to make my saturday more interesting and placed my Cheerios up for your perusal. Dont know how to add the site to this but just look under Cheerios Sacagawea. I placed a strong price on it to keep it from flying off the counter too low. Thanks, im off to work.

Have a look on Ebay under Cheerios and look for highest priced item, and you will find it--Thx.

66 visiters and 6 watchers so far, but no takers. My little experiment, lol. Man I would miss that coin if it does sell. I like having a special piece of history.

In this day and age, it wouldn't surprise me if it sells. A silent, quiet, unassuming character will probably snatch this up and you are gonna be awestruck. And maybe you can tell your kids your dad had that coin once upon a time and he sold it for ten grand..... Who would have dreamt it would ever be worth a quarter of a million in twenty five years ?image

I hope it sells, really I do ~ If I were one of them Nebraskans that hit that lottery, I'd take two image

LoL. I hear you, but then again, I was the quiet unassuming character that picked it up when someone else blinked, and I have faith that even if this sells, I will get another one. Im just testing the market is all. Market has not yet made a move, but I have 9 watchers and 108 visitors after 12 hours.......I would love to see this pedigreed as the 10K Sac. These days you can drop 10k on flooring for the house, a plasma TV, a leather couch, a BBQ in the back yard. But 5 years later all you have is a used floor, an outdated TV, a worn out couch or a greasy BBQ, but this coin is going to be making money just sitting there. image

My experiment is ongoing, 20 watchers, and nearly 300 visitors in 1 day as a listing, anyone going to pull the trigger? anyone from here watching and just wondering what the result will be? Comments?

Looks like one more Cheerios Sac has moved into the light, $2,000 opening bid on Ebay, but has a reserve price. Good luck to all who try for it. So far my experiment is ongoing, 33 watchers, about 450 visitors in 2 days listed. Couple of comments sent via email mostly saying they like the story of the coin, one offer for $600 if I feel like letting the coin go. I politely declined, but if anyone who needs to contact that person, let me know...image

By the way, I ended up buying a horse this weekend for $7,500...coincidence? who knows, but upkeep on my coin is $0, while that horse is going to run me hundreds per month. I guess I should have trained my daughter to collect coins instead of jumping over poles with a horse.

Cracked 40 watchers and 700 visiters, but no further questions. I think the addition of the second Cheerios cooled any jets before they even got hot, but once that Cheerio goes away, how long till another shows? Looks like a lot of interest in the particular coin, and if everyone read up about the coin, job done.

Wonder how many of those watchers are from here as a result of your posting?

I have marked coins to be watched on EBAY many times just to get an idea of the market interest plus the hammer price long before I try to buy coins.

  • Seller's return policy:
Item must be returned within: 7 Days Refund will be given as: Money Back
Return Policy Details: Must be in exactly the same condition. This is a rare coin in original packaging. Open the package, and it is non returnable. bend it and it is non returnable, I am very serious. I treat this very delicately, and if you want me to take it back you had better do the same. It is my call on condition, if it looks different from when I sent it to you, you will be the owner as I will send it right back. I hate sounding harsh, but I want to be perfectly clear. You get this in awesome condition.

This is what I find cool (the coin is awesome). Direct and to the point. Not harsh, just straight talk, no beating around the bush.

    Good luck with the auction!

"By the way, I ended up buying a horse this weekend for $7,500...".

Now there's a BAD investment. Sort of like a boat, a plane, a wife, etc.image

I think I like that story more and more every time I read it.

I don't have $7500 to throw around...but it sure does make me want to put an ad in my local newspaper offering to pay $3K for any Sackies that are still in the original "Cheerio" box. It pains me to think of how many are probably STILL out there...in the original packaging...just bouncing around in drawers of owners who have no idea how much they are really worth.

If only I had bought a box of Cheerios that week! image

Thanks for the comments, I figure all the watchers will do just that, watch. No biggie, I do the same thing.
As far as being direct, I either tick people off with it or earn their respect. image I read a post here in the forum where folks were talking about guys not allowing returns, and how dishonest that could be, and I hate being thought of as anything I didnt earn, so I had to make a return policy that protected the coin, and me.
As far as the horse, no boat or plane, but got the wife, and you learn to accept lifes tests (This is my second horse!! arrgh).
Lastly, I really like the story too, and I wonder if the mint did this on purpose. I read recently that the mint mentioned in a promotion it hoped grandparents would give the coins to their grandkids to heighten their interest--giving a kid a rare coin helps heighten it all right. I wonder how many exist in the original state, my guess is not many. I think mine may not get a bid since another is on the bay, but after that one gets sold--when will the next one surface?

The countdown is on, I had to add paypal because some folks asked, dont know if they were serious, lol. Over 800 visiters and 45 watchers, It was fun to watch on my side as well, I think it is going right back into .safe keeping.

I was watching that , too. I can't get a feel for this Sacagawea or what value it really holds as there is only a small market for them.
It's not part of a registry set... it'll probably end up like the studebaker avanti or the tucker. A collector, but no real place in the "CLASSICS" division.
  • KaelasdadKaelasdad Posts: 1,232 ✭✭✭
I think that when PCGS finally recognizes that they exist, and they have to include them in a registry set, its going to be a free for all. But not so free, and not for all. The 1913 nickel, the 1933 saint are in Registry sets, whats so hard to believe the 2000 Cheerios wont make it? IMHO of course. Looks like the price of owning one is going north though, I wonder if we will see one go for under $3,000 again.
