I wouldn't buy it Marcel, the coin looks ugly.
There are much nicer ones of this type available.

The design is cool though, at least for someone who likes German coins

Hi Udo.
Yes - the reverse does look ugly but the obverse design is way cool imo.
Since my ZAR and Rijksdaalder sets are nearly complete I am looking for new avenues to explore.
Perhaps I may start dabbling in German coins.
I have only one here in Ireland and it's a 5 Mark piece from 1938.
My wife doesn't like it because it's a war coin.
It was actually one of the first coins I bought when I rekindled my coin passion about this time last year.

Yes, a set of German minors would be a nice beginning.
Although your wife doesn't like the 5 Mark coin, it's a piece of history.
The 10 Pfennig coin with the obverse you like shows the second type of eagle during the second Empire.
The first one looked like on this coin:
After Wilhelm II. came into power in 1888 he decided the appearance of the Reichsadler to be changed, as you can see on the coin below:

I have to say that I prefer the first type....it looks much 'meaner'.
Oh - and thanks for the info.

Maybe I got connected to the wrong coin, but weren't the 10 pfennig coins from the 1873-1914 time frame nickle? They were not silver

The face (and tongue) on the bird always looks to me like someone's strangling it!!

coinkat is correct, they were copper/nickle.
Misdescription by the seller, perhabs he thinks that a silver coin will sell better as one made of cu/ni.
