I took my coins to work today

I had to be in at 9am. I planned on going to the bank at lunch and putting them in the safe deposit box. Well they had "employee appreciation day" today and had a large cookout on the outside break area. While I was eating I was telling a co worker how much I enjoyed the Palm Beach show. They started to ask me what i picked up. (most folks there know I collect) so I went in and got the box of coins my manager locked away (so they didn't vanish) and brought them outside.

They oohhed and ahhed at the 61 fbl Franklin, I passed it aroung with my loupe and explained fbl. They lreally liked the Walker and then asked me what a proof was. I had a 62 proof set with me and explained that too. 2 of them really thought the Oregon Trail was very sharp
I enjoyed show and tell and made it to the bank to tuck them safely away.

It's nice when non-collectors appreciate your coins. Maybe they'll get the 'disease'image

I tried it once. Everybody laughed at me. Sucks being in computer forensics : (
  • When the folks at work found out that I'm into coins it resulted in a lot of people bringing things to me and saying, "What's this worth?" The answer is almost invariably "melt." The only benefit of this is that I have accumulated a lot of junk silver at spot price.

I brought in a $100 1oz platinum 2004 coin into work. It stayed in my pocket all day. I just picked it up from the post office and didnt have time to drop it off at home or the bank before going to work. There was no way that I was going to take it out of my pocket.
