    #1 I don't see anything different about the design elements of the coin so I am assuming it's a Pattern since it was struck in copper.....am I correct?

    Copper/Bronze pattern in anticipation of the changeover in 1864, I guess. This from US Patterns.com

    The mint's first experiment with bronze. These were struck in the following formats.

    J299/P359. This is a very popular pattern which is very difficult to find with a majority of red color.
