I had forum member mgoodm3 do some pictures for me. I'm severely limited both by equipment and skill and I was always struck by the quality of his copper pictures, so I shipped this Lincoln and a few copper/bronze medals for a little photo session. This is a Lincoln I found a couple years ago when another member, kranky, had told me he was in the hunt for an early Matte for his type set. I located the coin but he had already committed to another so I snatched it up!! Let me know what you think of Mark's photography and while you're at it, give a grade guess. The coin looks quite close as represented and way, way better than any of my lame attempts to capture the color and surface texture.

<< <i>I don't know the series well, but I'll guess AU -58. It looks like a bit of rub above the ear, tip of the nose, the cheek, and the beard. That said, that's a dynamite AU-58. >>
If this is a 58, it's in a very old holder before market grading was routine.
My grandchildren. The heirs to my collection! (Just not to soon I hope)
Crusty original Linky !
I'll grade the coin at 65 BN, although I would not be surprised if it graded higher as the surfaces seem to be free of nicks.

what strikes me about the big images Mark did is the surface texture that they show, especially on some of the medals. the Lincoln is in an old green holder and graded by PCGS as PR64RB, though it's probably better described as a PR65BN and resides in my Denomination Type Set. more to come from the GoodMan in the future!!
What did i win !
Al,
dats a nice coin !
and as always mark, excellent photography

Great pics mgoodm3 - you can really "see" the coin with your pics.

I REALLY don't know this series!
Al, can I take a make-up quiz?
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
