Booms where you've been on the right side

I've seen plenty of stories about people with bricks of Greg Jeffries Future Stars cards, or loading up on a "Can't Miss" like Kevin Maas, Brien Taylor, Blair Thomas, et al. Has there been a time when you were on the right side of a deal, where you got out at the right time, or were just able to capitalize on a hot card?

I remember in 1993 when Joe Montana went to Kansas City. I bought as many cards of Montana in Chiefs uniform I could find, and took them with me when I visited my aunt in Kansas City. I was able to take cards of Montana I bought for $2-$3 and sell them for $5-$10 in KC. It was a pretty good deal for an 11 year-old!
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

  • I was the first one in line to gladly accept 25.00 apiece for my 85 Donruss Eric Davis cards and 3 bucks apiece for my 87 David Cones and Mike Greenwells.............

    Future

I have never really sold anything so I don't know...

But, if Bonds were to somehow become everyone's best friend, I'm sitting on an 800 ct. box of 87T RCs that I paid about 30 cents a piece for.

I've got about 250 90B F. Thomas cards that I paid like 25 cents for - but this guy is not the hopeful I thought he would be.

Sosa was a hopeful - now I'm dead in the water.

I have 100 Fleer and 125 Topps Glavine RCs - didn't pay much - but he was assinated after the 94 basebal strike.

    Hmmm...

Most of what I picked up at shows for little should have been sold a long, long time ago!

So, let's see if Bonds goes to 900 HRs - God comes forth and tells the world he did NOT take steroids and I'm in!

The only time I bought a brick of one player was in 1983 when I bought 100 Topps Tony Gwynn rookie cards at 65 to 95 cents a piece. I then sold them in 1991 for $20 a pieceimage

The right side of a deal... oh my! Back in 2000 when Tiger was winning all his majors, I managed to acquire a stash of '96 SI Kids issues with the Tiger rookie in it... the amount of money I was able to make off those was obscene... I will never encounter a "right time" to cash in as I did back then.

I don't want to get way OT, one response will do, but, how often was Tiger inserted in these SI for Kids issues back then?
