Has paypal made you lazy

I have noticed that people don't bid very much on auctions that don't accept paypal as payment. Has anyone else noticed this trend? I could be wrong. It is a pain to go and get money orders.

It doesn't affect my bidding too much, but it is a pain in the a$$ sending a money order.
  • Paypal is no big deal to me. If you are going to bid on the auctions of SCGaynor and the like, a trip to the post office isnt that bad. At the end of the year if you are doing big volume sales, that 3% adds up in a hurry, plus there is no paper trail....

Its not a pain for me, I work at a Bank and can get Bank Checks and Money orders all day long for free. But I would still rather go through Paypal. just because it is faster and more convenient. Not to mention that I think it is more secure.

I often won't bid if they don't take Paypal. I for sure don't bid on an auction if it requires a bank check or money order. Too much of a time waster for me. Sellers probably should at least analyze if they make more or less by avoiding those Paypal fees!

Its to easy to get ripped off by a seller that does not take paypal. Use your amex( or other credit card) through paypal and your good to go. What no baseball card? Didnt get what was advertised? No problem. Quick call to amex and evrything is put on hold till you get what you should have got or a refund. Its safe and real simple

If the seller doesn't accept PayPal and the item isn't rare.. I'm not bidding. I'll bid on the same thing from someone else who does accept PayPal even if it requires waiting awhile.

They loose far more than that 3% by people who do not bid because they do not want to go to get a MO. I am lazy and will likely pass if they do not take PayPal, it also raises a red flag in many cases. AS for the paper trail, there are many ways around that....

Its kinda funny how we all complain about ebay fee's and the high % of $$ they get, yet doesnt ebay own paypal and take more fee's on that end too ?? It appears we get burned no matter what. I think that is another reason why ebay doesnt do a thing to cover anyone unless its via paypal....they have an interest in paypal, thus pushing us to have to rely on it. If they covered the buyer as they should then we wouldnt need paypal anymore and they would lose on that end....man does ebay have us by the BALL$

No PAYPAL = No Bid from me

The only time I will break this rule is if you are selling either of the last 3 1962 Parkhurst cards
I need for my set ( all commons ) or if you are " SSS2 ".

If the feedback is outstanding with many transactions I dont have a problem bidding on those auctions. I have been fortunate enough to get some great deals I'm sure for that reason alone. I have one favorite seller that doesnt take Paypal...I'll buy from that guy all day long...he's got great stuff!
But if there are low transactions and less than outstanding feedback I do shy away.

It depends on what I'm buying. If it's a cheapo card that is selling for $2-5, I won't bother bidding if the seller doesn't accept Paypal. If that makes me lazy, then I'm lazy.

Now if the card is something I've been looking for a long time, I'll bid on it.

It must have made me lazy....because i'm starting to get extremely annoyed that i have to manually change from my savings acct to a credit card, every time i buy something on ebay.

I really hate paypal....but it's just one more monopoly we have to deal with i guess.

    jad

I agree with those that feel, in many situations, that Paypal is added insurance for a buyer.

    And BTW jad...

I am lazy, but I can't blame that on paypal. image

    Good question

I try to limit my bidding to sellers who take Paypal. I will bid with a seller who takes checks if the item is something I really want and don't want to wait for the next one to show up. If the seller takes neither checks nor Paypal, then I won't bid unless it's something I absolutely CAN NOT live without. Since I'm in the military and can't always get to my post office during the week, it's just too difficult to try to get money orders. I would go to my base credit union, but they only sell Travelers' Express money orders, which I will not buy due to past problems with them.
