Ah, my favorite year 1866. I love the 3 cent pieces. All the cool die cracks and clashes you can find,

You have a nice looking circulated piece. If only it could talk and tell where it has been.

I didn't realize they body-bagged for corosion. Thanks for the info. Actually, this looked like a decent specimen, until I blew it up in the pic.

from the pics couldn't that be a totally orignal coin with booming
luster under a ton of crud?

my first impression was a really dirty coin. be careful what you do
with it? but others are probably right.

That's what I thought, too. I thought it was just fairly worn and very dirty/tarnished. I didn't think anything corrosive was going on. Oh well...
