2006 World Series / Collectors Club

Is the 2006 World series competition simply a strategy to get people to sign up for the Collectors Club? I subscribe to the population report which is the only benefit of being a silver membership club member. I didn't renew my club memebrship because I don't have a need to submit raw coins. But since I didn't pay the extra ten bucks when I decided to subscribe to the pop report, the only way I can compete in the world series is if I become a member and have double access to the pop report. They won't let me upgrade because I don't have a club number. Oh well, I guess I'll have to let someone else win the $10,000. Better yet, maybe it's time to forget about collecting coins in PCGS slabs.

Some just have to find a problem with everything. Some just have to bask in misery constantly. Some want the whole ball of wax for nothing.

Don't let the door hit you in the A$$ when you leave the world of collecting PCGS graded coins.

It cost $50 to compete in the World Series of Grading and you had to go to one of the major shows. This costs $50 to participate, or nothing if you are already a member. I am not a member, but may re-join for the extra $10 (I pay for the online pop report which should expire soon).

Seems this is a better deal than the Grading contest was, much easier for more to participate.

"It's Easy to Participate and it's Free!

The PCGS 2006 World Series of Coin Trading starts March 1, 2006. All you have to do is go to the PCGS.com website on March 1, or any time after that, and register to be a trader in the PCGS 2006 World Series of Coin Trading. You will receive your personalized, password protected, trading screen and you will be ready to begin trading and tracking your own million dollar rare coin portfolio. AND IT'S ABSOLUTELY FREE! There is no charge to enter the PCGS World Series of Coin Trading. Participation in the Professional Division is open to all PCGS Authorized Dealers and participation in the Collectors Division is open to all members of the PCGS Collectors Club. "

    What's the definition of Free?

Besides the misleading advertising, it's the inflexibility to allow me to change my pop report subscription that's ticked me off.

    Mansco,

I'm with Ken here. I do think they should let you upgrade, but if this is all it takes to make you stop buying PCGS coins......well then you ARE NOT much of a coin collector and won't be missed here.

    Mansco:

I happen to agree with you.

I think PCGS should let you participate and compete FOR FREE!

However, I also believe that PCGS should have a FREE DIVISION and those who wins, wins for the glory of winning. Meaning no monetary prize!

But, I will help and will offer to pay the winner of the "free division" $10 for winning if PCGS relents and lets everyone participate!

    Yep.

Collecting them is fine, but submitting them is stupid.

I don't think that submitting to PCGS is stupid, but there could be arguement that re-submitting them is.
ps. I suggest to always use a "pre-screener" to help in the submission process.
