'78 OPC vs. '78 Topps Wax Box . . .

Which is the better buy? I've done so well lately, but I'm gettin' the itch.

Opinions valued.

Thanks,
Rick

You will have better success pulling centered cards from Topps than OPC. Even though to me, OPC was more fun to open.

I would go for the Topps.

  • Topps for sure
  • Depends on where you buy them from. I like the OPC from a value perspective - but keep in mind there is no Molitor card in the OPC - silly me forgot that the first time I bought a 78 OPC box. You will have centering issues with the OPC, but I have had luck finding a bunch of 9s and 2-3 10s out of 4 boxes from BBCE.

Good luck and share the scans.

A topps box will cost you at least double the opc. The opc will probably yield 1-3 murrays although they may not be centereed. The topps box will be better centered but is a much larger set so you are going to see a lot more commons. either way is a no lose situation as you will have a ton of fun

OPC - if you get centered cards that have reasonable corners. Topps if you get some key cards.

Risks and upside to both. Freemarket has dictated the prices where they are.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
