It's been a mild winter. it's snowed more in the last week than it did for all
of January (lowest record snowfall) I'm not complaining I hate winter.

where did you get those ?
I only ever got 1 One Yen coin, and it turned out to be a faker image
probably same base coin they created all those Trade Dollar from,
I compared it vs. my Trade Dollar and it was exact same size, width, and weight (grossly underweight).

    *sigh*
    I hate fakers

The yen is dated Meiji 21 (1888). Personally, I'd give it an XF considering the visibility of the fine lines in the "feather" at 3:00. image

I don't see any image regarding its authenticity, although there are a lot of high grade forgeries and counterfeits (contemporary and modern), making it extremely difficult to authenticate from a photo. The diameter is critical. For that year it must be 38.1mm, and not 38.6mm. The diameter was reduced in 1886, and many of the counterfeits with later dates had the old diameter. Weight should be 26.9568g (27g is close enough image ).

I'm assuming that the light spot on the dot between "900" and the "nen" ("year") character is a reflection off the mylar, and not a memento of a harsh cleaning. Like almost all Japanese silver of that era, it has probably been dipped a time or two.

Mintage was a little short of 9.5-million, and my 3rd Ed. 19th Century Krause values it at $50 VF, $75 XF. I don't think there was much change in the 4th Ed. On the other hand, the most recent JNDA catalog values (always higher than Krause) are ¥20,000 (~$170) in a grade roughly equal to F/VF, and ¥85,000 (~$730) in a grade roughly equal to XF.

Wow, a Japanese coin, and a coin with a naked guy on a horse! Those are two of my favorite types of coins so you are doing great imageimageimage! Now if you just buy yourself a nice medal with a mom and a baby I'd say you are perfect image.
