1986 Leaf Fold Out Pop-ups

I was fumbling through an old drawer of ignored baseball cards and such, and I stumbled upon a 1986 Leaf Fold Out Pop-Up of Roger Clemens. I thought it actually looked kind of cool. Just curious if anyone out there might be hoarding any of these or possibly some packs or boxes of them?

I've found boxes on Ebay before on the cheap.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I tried to sell some on ebay for $1 a piece and got no takers. I tried a lot of 10 for a buck and no takers. Don't think they're worth much.

  • I'd rather they not be worth much. It'll be easier to put together a set or two. Are you interested in moving any?

I'd love to find a box, it's more fun opening them. Haven't bought a pack of cards since 1995. I miss the thrill of opening packs, but I don't miss the new stuff that floods the market out there.

I won a box of those as a door prize at a show about 10 years ago. Other people won things like a Molitor rookie or an Ozzie Smith rookie, I won that. I couldn't get $5 in trade for it from any dealer. Eventually I got really bored and opened it. You'll get several complete sets from one box, and if I still had them they might be candidates for grading because they are kind of oddball things. But you should be able to find them cheap.

Hey, I got that one. I think that's actually a 1987. The 1986 release was much better in my opinion. They were standard size like a regular card and can fit in standard 9 pocket pages.
  • Hey, send in a scan. I'd like to see a real one from '86 then!

Actually, I got my years mixed up. That Clemens is listed as a Donruss 1987 pop-up according to Beckett. Makes sense since Clemens didn't appear in an All-Star game until '86. The set I was referring to is actually the 1988 pop-up, which I like better. Sort of reminds of the old '64 Topps stand-ups, at least in physical design.

Anybody got a Mike Schmidt from '87 Pop-Ups for sale?

OK, I found a 1989 pop-up as well (didn't even know I had this one). My guess is that these were probably issued towards the end of the season. Although the box may say 1988 All-Stars, priceguides like Beckett recognizes it as an 1989 issue. As far as I know, this is the last year they issued these pop-up cards.

  • I kind of like the cheesiness of having the same dome at the top of the card. At least the Clemens and Boggs have that same top portion. It didn't even dawn on me to look for Donruss. Thanks for the tip Bob.

I haven't come across any more of these, but if I happen upon a Schmidt, I'll let you know.

I probably have an extra PSA 8, depending on what you are paying.

    Marc,
Can you let one go for $165?

I'd prefer a raw one for cheap. I'd probably be looking to pay $1-3 for a raw one, so unless you wanted to sell a graded one for $4-5, I'll just keep looking for an ungraded one.
