unusual 'special' this month

This month's PSA grading special seemed pretty good at first glance: 1953 & before, 8 bucks, and even included "tall boys", coins and other stuff. But then i saw the "catch": the MAXIMUM value per item cannot exceed $75.00!! That pretty much rules out just about anything worthwhile to have graded, except the most common of stuff, and/or low grade material. Seems at least a $200. max would have been more reasonable.

  • Yeah, I'm with you . . . very odd. Hardly seems worthwhile.
  • The Special is good for us NonSports collectors.

Well... too ya have to think PSA was BOMBARDED with their 2-month long $5/card deal. This might be a way to play "catch-up." I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one on the boards anxiously awaiting an order or two. Anything to help speed things up is fine by me!!!

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

  • how do you set the value. Say there is a 51 card that books 200, but you got it off the bay for $75. What do you do?

The value question is tough. I generally send stuff anywhere close to their max value. If I happen to get a higher grade than expected than it would exceed the max but nothing rejected yet....

As for current special, I sort of like it. I have some 1940's stuff that is low grade but I would love to see it in PSA holders. $8 is a good deal for that old stuff I think.
  • Im trying to figure out why there is a 1956 pee wee reese on the 53 or earlier special ??image
