Depends.... First time buying from them? Do I trust them? (yeah, I know...I didn't trust them, why buy from them, but people gotta start somwhere) Do I think their prices are reasonable? How soon do I want the coin? How have they been to work with getting the coin?
Those questions help me decide, after getting the answers, on whether to use CC or paypal or something else.....
Depends on a several factors, most of which have already been mentioned. Namely, whether I know and trust the dealer, how quickly I wanted the coin, et cetera.
When dealers send coins to me "on approval" I usually pay by check. The two main reasons for using a credit card -- having less recourse if I don't get what's advertised and to avoid having to wait for checks to clear -- don't apply here. In this case, if they trust me enough to send me the coin before I've paid for it, the least I can do is repay that trust by not burying them in credit card fees.
But if some dealer doesn't know me and wants to wait 7-10 days for a personal check to clear, I'd prefer to use the credit card.
And for what it's worth, right or wrong, I tend to be more sensitive to credit card fees for smaller operations than for the big behemoth coin dealers.

First choice is PayPal, second choice is credit card, third choice is personal check, and I have not used a money order for anything but ebay purchases. Safety and speed of transaction are the criteria that determine my preferences.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
