I am about to submit some PQ Morgans for regrade, hoping for an upgrade. I know that PCGS will reholder with a higher grade if appropriate, but some questions arise when PL/DMPL coins are considered. For example, is MS65 considered higher than MS64PL? Is MS65PL higher than MS64DMPL, etc? In some cases I might prefer my 64DMPL coin to be in a 65PL holder, and in other cases that would be a bad move. Is the designation PL/DMPL even considered on a regrade, or is that considered only when submitting under the new "Designation Review" option? Thanks.

Hi Joe,
Grade is a seperate issue from PLness. A coin cannot go from 64DMPL to 65 PL. It's either a 64 or a 65...then the other issue is whether it is PL or DMPL. Send them in regrade...they are guaranteed not to lose value.
