So All Weekend I'm Trying to Convince Myself to Bid $100 for This Card . . .

I'm working on a PSA 10 collection of former Michigan State University athletes. So far, I think the most I've spent is like 15 bucks for a 1989 Fleer Kevin Willis or some silly thing. There's been a few early 1970's Bubba Smiths that have ended in the $75 range, but so far I haven't had to guts (translated, I'm a cheap dude) to spend that much for one card that's otherwise worth about $8 raw. But for the last week, I've been watching an auction for this card:

Sat at $9.99 pretty much all week. I convinced myself that I was going to go for it and bid $101.01 late in the auction, because what the heck, it's a Detroit Lion and an MSU Spartan, so I kill two birds with one stone.

Uh, it looks like I was a bit out-of-touch with the value of 1961 Fleer football: The Bids are In.

Although it was in the $100's with less than a minute to go!

A 45 year old PSA 10 Gem mint for $100???.....................wishful thinking on your part.........it is a 1/1 by the way and probably will remain 1/1 for a long time if not forever......................

    .......no harm in bidding though!!

Buy the card not the grade-how can that be a 10 with the border on the right smaller then the left border? I just dont get it ! When I think of 10, I think perfect in all ways-Just my opinion! Scott

Somewhat unrelated, I picked up a '68 Topps card in PSA 9, for somewhere around $10, and thought I had the deal of a lifetime, until I realized the pop reports showed numerous '68 Topps PSA 9s. Must have been some sort of case bust. So it works both ways.
