RE: 1976 Nevada U.S. Bicentennial Silver Medal

This item is a rare silver 1976 Nevada U.S. Bicentennial Medal in the original plastic holder with the original box and brochure insert. For the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976, Nevada was the only state to manufacture its own commemorative medals. The State of Nevada used the Carson City Museum press No. 1 and struck Nevada Bicentennial medals in gold, silver, copper and bronze, all featuring the "CC" mintmark. Yes, this is the famous press manufactured by Morgan & Orr in Philadelphia, which created many of the coining presses then in use throughout the world. The Carson City press was a six-ton press and arrived at the Carson Mint in 1869.

For the 1976 Medal, the obverse was pressed using the same die as was used for the 1876 Nevada U.S. Centennial Medal showing Civil War and Revolutionary War soldiers guarding the Liberty Bell. The reverse shows a Nevada mountain scene. It's a very neat medal in pristine condition. This medal, as many here know, is very rare in silver and is quite hard to locate.

If you want to buy it, the price is $65 (a bronze one recently topped $50 on eBay as a comparison). Please email me at jamesfsm@yahoo.com. No PM's please. The first to email a desire to purchase this item wins. Paypal bank transfers are great with me. I'm currently cleaning out odds and ends nowadays so my loss is your gain!
