Hello Keets, next question. Is it because more

people desire PCGS registry sets or because of something else. Maybe pops. Or are NGC registry sets playing a distant second?

As far as proofs go, I like PCGS grading better....

  • I'm not Keets. But I think the standards are slighty different between NGC and PCGS for those 1950s Cameo Proof Jeffersons... I have plenty of both to compare and I will usually pay more for PCGS graded PR Jeffs...
  • Hello Carl, thank you and everyone for your input. I agree that the PCGS grading of 50's proofs has been better, much better than NGC in the past. But is it still better? I have used only PCGS for so long, since the early 90's and never NGC. But I saw lots of NGC coins and I did not like them as well. Usually. Maybe some on the boards here who use both could comment.

  • ..........Now people like PCGS, in the future it maybe some one else.......Quick bucks now or wait for the big payoff, Who knows................. image
  • On most NGC Registry Sets the point totals are just stupid. For example in the Morgan Set, they'll give you 3 points for a semi-key date thats worth $3000 and 1200 points for an ugly common $300 1884CC in Mint state. Or in the Mint sets, a MS67 Roosevelt dime well be overgraded by them as a MS68*-- getting 3,800 points but some monster PCGS MS67 Washingtons (with one ms68 known) get 300 points and a ulta rare FBL MS66 Frankie gets 1200 points. They just make zero sense and think their overgraded coins are worth more in value and points than they are.
