I'm not a Morgan collector but I know the 81-S is a dime a dozen. I don't usually spend my money on Morgans. In fact, I only own one Morgan and it's in my DANSCO 7070. I really like the color and lustre on this one so I grabbed it from Craig; MANOFCOINS. What Cha think?

<< <i>It's making serious "I want to be a 66" noise. >>
I dunno about that, Dennis. It is attractive, but those field marks in front of Liberty's profile, behind her head and above the IGWT motto probably make that 65 holder a nice permanent residence. Certainly is a pretty coin to own nonetheless.

<< <i>Besides being a very attractive coin, it's in an old holder. So many of the old holders are being cracked out to try for up-grades they are becoming rarer and collectibles on their own. >>
Wanna buy some of my coins in first generation holders? PM me for some nice deals.
By the way, the coin posted is very nice and looks PQ in the picture.

Clean cheek, first generation slab and a little color for originality...........what's not to like?
For my first rattler I think it's a great coin. Thanks Again Craig

Is that some machine doubling of the S mintmark?

Based on your pics, it appears there is too much chatter in the fields to upgrade to 66, but still a PQ coin with nice color. I'd keep it in the rattler.

Agreed
Now the question is, How much lighter is your wallet?

Less than the PCGS price guide of $160
let it sit for a few more years- she should turn monster color on you- then you can jack the price up 3x what you paid for it.

<< <i>To get it standing correctly in the holder, tap it repeatedly in the bottem edge until the coin rotates. If it goes the wrong way, tap your shoes together three times, and hit it on the other edge. It's probably a very solid MS 65 that would go 66 if the services loosen up--NGC especially will up the eye appeal part of the grade a notch at some point--however gen one holders also bring more money so why bother?
Esp. the last part.
