What's Your Thoughts On This Morgan; "Updated With My Pic's"

I'm not a Morgan collector but I know the 81-S is a dime a dozen. I don't usually spend my money on Morgans. In fact, I only own one Morgan and it's in my DANSCO 7070. I really like the color and lustre on this one so I grabbed it from Craig; MANOFCOINS. What Cha think?

Agreed. Killer coin, great eye-appeal, cerified, first generation holder, PQ.

It's making serious "I want to be a 66" noise.
    When in doubt, don't.

I dunno about that, Dennis. It is attractive, but those field marks in front of Liberty's profile, behind her head and above the IGWT motto probably make that 65 holder a nice permanent residence. Certainly is a pretty coin to own nonetheless.

Its a very nice example for certain a solid 65. The 81s is about the most available morgan in ms65 and are typicaly well struck like that one. The color is awsome really a killer coin. I would say the chance of an upgrade is slim but you never know.

  • To get it standing correctly in the holder, tap it repeatedly in the bottem edge until the coin rotates. If it goes the wrong way, tap your shoes together three times, and hit it on the other edge. It's probably a very solid MS 65 that would go 66 if the services loosen up--NGC especially will up the eye appeal part of the grade a notch at some point--however gen one holders also bring more money so why bother?image

  • Very nice coin image
  • Very pretty. An '81-S may be a common date and mintmark, but that's an uncommonly nice specimen.

It's not a monster, but it's definately an attractive, solid ms65- nice pickup!

  • Besides being a very attractive coin, it's in an old holder. So many of the old holders are being cracked out to try for up-grades they are becoming rarer and collectibles on their own.

  • Very nice, Lee.

Based on your pics, it appears there is too much chatter in the fields to upgrade to 66, but still a PQ coin with nice color. I'd keep it in the rattler.image

Less than the PCGS price guide of $160imageimage
  • solid 5 with color- good coin to keep the way it is- if ya wanted a 6- I'm sure you would have bought one in 6.

let it sit for a few more years- she should turn monster color on you- then you can jack the price up 3x what you paid for it.
