1968 Blazers!!! Help with grading

Just picked up a lot of 300-400 68 topps that are just blazing. My problem is, never having 68s like this before, how to you closely inspect them with a loop. My little loop is a 5x I think. I look through it and because of the card back ground pattern I cant tell what is a touched tip and what is pattern. Any suggestions, besides the obvious of get a stronger loop?

Are 68's worth grading? I looked on ebay and common 9's didnt look like they bring the amount of money needed to justify spending the money to grade. 8's looked like you would loose money for sure and 9s, because you get so few of them, looked like they wouldn't make up the difference.

Thoughts?

Thanks
Chris

68's are one of the easiest issues of the 60's. The mesh hides a lot of the flaws, but if you look with your 5x loupe, you should be able to inspect the corners pretty well. One of the big things with 68's is centering, if the card isn't centered well, unless it's a big star, there's little reason to submit it. Cards that are centered well and have strong corners, edges and no surface wear (use a desk lamp and tilt the card in all directions to find surface wrinkles or wax stains) should be submitted... either wait for a $5 special or use the $6 bulk. Basically, you're a loser on common cards in 7 and lower, roughly break even with 8's, and you can do well with 9's of certain cards, and of course 10's will bring nice money.

    Good luck

    I agree with A761506

I think if the card has a shot at a 9 you should submit it.
