2006 Topps Yak Packs

I was in the checkout line at Target this morning and spotted 2006 Topps rack packs. I am putting together a set, and it has been years since I opened a new rack pack. When I got to the car (I wasn't about to wait until I got home), I looked at the wrapper. It said, "18 cards plus 3 Topps vintage inside!" I am not griping because I got 12 crappy cards from 1983-1989. Just check out the great selection from 4 rack packs. There must be 5000 worthless commons from that time frame. I wouldn't think I would get doubles, certainly not...

...well, at least I got four identical cards with Mickey Mantle's picture, describing his first home run. They will go great with the dozen that I already have.

Where's my Heritage?
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

I totally forgot Lonnie Smith went to the Cardinals. It was around that time I stopped following baseball for a few years.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • I'm not surprised by the Mark Clears... Seems like every pack I opened in '83 had one of those cards...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

I just got back from a Target and found the rack packs also. Funny but I also noticed that the "vintage" cards are duplicated in the packs and to make matters even better you see one of the cards on the back of the rack......I just picked up a few of the racks and noticed the same player in three of the racks I picked up........needless to say I sat them down and let my son buy one of the boxes for $9.99 that had ten plus one bonus pack of the new 2006 cards.....who needs more vintage treasures in the basement!!

I actually like the idea of going back to rack packs. Sure, the vintage cards were junk, but, since I am an unopened pack collector, I like finding racks with stars showing. I found one with a Pujols on the back showing, and I grabbed it. I also found one with Clemens on the front and got it.

reminds me of the time I busted a box of "Worthless" Timeless Treasures and pulled about 20 '87 Oil Can Boyds. I was in Vegas with some buddies from OBC - before I left, I made sure the box got packed in my roomies' luggage.

  • I was so happy when I came home from the dentist (still in PAIN) to see Mr. UPS had dropped off my box of crap packs from Topps....First pack yielded a 79 card so I was somewhat hopeful of getting some older stuff....as you can see from below, the Ladies at Topps definition of vintage is eating the Taco Bell buffet and not taking a dump for a week....LEARN HOW TO COLLATE LADIES...this is my last box/pack of 06 Topps as it is pure CRAP...I am sure they were laughing pretty hard at the Topps factory when they decided what to throw in as "Vintage"

At least I have the market cornered on 79 Joe Kerrigan's....
  • Since everyone is pulling doubles out of the same box, these boxes must have been for retail store use. I guess a lot of kids, non-collectors will be buy some packs from Walmart, etc. Are these pulls from hobby boxes?
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
