I made a Pop Top 1956D Roosie!!!!....error

I paid moon money for a 1956 mint set at FUN ($1000) because I fell in love with a monster 56D dime, which looked more like a 58D than a 56D....It be GREEN.

Results posted today:

008 1956 D 10C MS 67* FT

NGC FT Population:


67 11 67* 0
68 1 68* 0

    Those '56-D coins don't typically tone like '58-Ds.

    AHHHHHHH I just realized I had copied the wrong numbers....there is a 68 with no star!!!!!!

    Bill, I use to own the 56D MS68FT. I sold it to the number 1 NGC registry set holder. Nice score on the 67*FT.
    Did you send the other coins from the set in?. What did they grade out.

    Two P Dimes 66/67
    Two P Quarters 65/65 I made a 1958 Quarter in MS 67 in the same batch, these were better??? Go figure...

    The half I sent went 64FBL --- another I don't get it grade??? I thought probable 66.

    However, I am sure of one thing ----- Mr Colorfulcoins will droool over the dime....it's BLUE BABY!!!!!

    Got some great modern grades from PCGS, and made a bunch of 67 dimes at NGC including a 52S FT and a 53S 67*, but overall, both PCGS and NGC graded harder than usual for the 60 coins I sent in.

    It has been much harder to get a * recently; maybe NGC broke the * on their machine when they assigned it to every coin in that multi-thousand lot of Morgan Dollars?image

    Bill, good thing you didn't send that one to PCGS, it would have come back a MS66 like all the others........67's trapped in 66 holders!

    Agreed, PCGS tends to be harsh on toned coins. Their version of a star is to downgrade it.
