Here is one you can never get again... Treasure Bay was destroyed in Katrina never to rebuild. This is a special chip issued during the annual Crusin the Coast car show here.

I bought a huge collection of them once, mainly millennium $5 clay and plastic chips,
but there were a few silver strikes in there also.
held a few out, one has richard petty on it. the rest were sold, some for under face.
not a real good appreciation on them.

I collected 31 different $1 chips on a trip to Vegas with my wife and her friends a few years back. I don't gamble, so without something to collect I would have been bored to tears.

I have a few. A $1 from Caesars, $1 from the Tropicana, $1 from the Excalibur, $1 from the Imperial Palace (all of these in Vegas) 2-$1 from Royal Carribeans Majesty of the Seas, 2-50c from the same ship, 2-$5 from the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. I also have an ashtray from Caesars.

i made sure i always cashed my chips in before leaving,
i had no wish to hang onto them.

if i did collect them though, i would pick a point in time
and collect that time frame. 1930s-1950s maybe. talk
about a colorful timeframe.

A few--The Donald Trump-Marla Maples marrage chip ($5) from Taj--Kristine Karstadt (at the time at Bowers/Merena) wanted one so I gave her a $5 example for her collection. A 1950's $1 from Vegas Trop, a common Flamingo Chip circa "Bugsy" but now pretty rare, and a very tough to find Playboy Club in AC chip before they closed. Also got a few Horseshoe slugs with Benny on them before the slots are all paper cashout and some World Series used Chips from there to in 2000. I like collecting rare anything at face value when it's pretty or interesting.

I love the things and collected them seriously for a couple of years. Unfortunately, the cost of education is much higher in the chip business than in coins. I dropped out because the education was getting too expensive.

I collect the black ones- actually have about 120 or so from Harrah's Vegas, and Laughlin, will most likely take em back and use them this summer for fun on the tables.

I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and made sure to play a few of the slots that pay off with the "silver" chips. I brought back 7 from the Bellagio and MGM. I went over to the new Hooters, but was told they hadn't put in any of the machines with the silver chips yet. Had fun.

I used to have a blast on the $1 n $5 slots, but the boats here spit out paper and not coins anymore.

I usually try to keep a chip from every pokerroom that I've played in unless they are incredibly funky (and there are some pretty funky chips out there).

Perhaps I should learn how to dip clay chips.

I have quite a few older AC and vegas chips, $1 Playboy, $5 Brighton, $25 Taj Mahal Sheryl Crow & Gloria Estefan ltd to 100!, Taj Playboy $25 to name a few. Also have $10 $20 and $40 Silver Strikes. Wrong forum, but would trade for coins, LMK.

I have a few older ones, a few from Cuba in the 50s and Mr. Paseo sent me some from Iraq!

This is one I will never get rid of, back when $25 tokens were silver I poped this one into a machine and hit it for $10,000. When they opened the machine it was in the hopper tube and they gave it back to me as a rememberence!

Paper systems have taken all the fun out of slots IMHO.

I had quite a few chips but sold all of them but one, A one day only $5 special issue from Harrahs In Kansas City.

I have a few that I bring back with me from our yearly trip to Aruba. Also have some from other Caribbean islands and some from AC. No special infinity for the chips other than as souveniors.

I work within sight of the Atlantic City skyline, and live 5 miles down the road. Any casino chips I collect tend not to remain in my possession for very long.

I have several $1 chips form various Las Vegas Casinos. They are all made of metal of some sort. Most of them are dated in the 1970s and 1980s. If anyone is interested in them let me know. I wont miss them.

I had 5 once but....................put em all back into the slot machine!

I was just thinking yesterday that I should have kept those since I can't remember if they were halves or dollars!

I've kept everything that even looks like a coin since then though!

Any value in Chucky Cheese tokens? How about Malibu Speedway tokens?

I collect Chips, Tokens plus other memorabilia from the old Hacienda Casino that was on the strip in Vegas.

The Mandalay Bay resort now stands where the Hacienda was. It was imploded in 1996.

I used to collect Dover Downs Quarter Chips back when they used to look like state quarters. I would pull out the Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey ones. At one time I think I had about $300 in them. One day I got to thinking how worthless they were and I just started spending them.

Now Dover Downs is printing out paper credit slips. I don't think those are worth collecting.

Believe it or not, they were selling for $1-$3 ea at a recent show; it brings back memories to plp in their 30's.

My father has been a coin dealer for nearly 50 years now and has never collected anything in that area since he was a dealer, however he is absolutely smitten with casino collectibles...that is basically all he does with his time now. His particular interest is with silver strikes, he probably has the largest active collection and the largest inventory (8 to 10 thousand pieces at least by his last estimation) He does also deal in poker chips, dice and ash trays as well as a whole host of other casino collectibles. At my shop in Old Town Temecula I have given him about a third of the shop for his casino stuff. It is real popular we get tons of people in and out looking through that stuff. He claims it is the fastest growing hobby in the US.

I have a small collection. It would be much larger but I won't pay more than 50c or a dollar.

It is surprising what you can find for this price though. It's mostly the oldest ones that are cheap. You
can pick up 19th century ivory chips from Thailand for much less than you'd pay for any of the modern crap.

Does anyone here collect casino chips?
