How I display my wax pack wrappers

Based off of the recent "How I display my PSA cards", this fails to compare to that awesome arrangement on the basement room wall.

Nonetheless, I found the artwork and colors very usable for a modern art type of look, so I framed some of my favorites and hung this on the wall of my collectibles room.

  • Great eye appeal! A GEM MINT 10 in my book!

    Thanks for sharing.
  • That looks great!

I'm so glad they're empty - it would drive me crazy to have to look at unopened packs...

    Very nice Ran

I like putting the stuff on the wall!

I have a couple of my uncut sheets on the wall - very colorful also.

But, that is a super way to show off your wrappers.

I do have a nonsport wrapper proof and an unopened pack of Topps wanted posters framed also.

    Very creative
    thanx for sharing
When I get a digital camera - I'ld like to take a few shots and show them to you guys

  • Wow, hey, thanks for the kinds words everyone. I have to tell you it was fun to put together, some wrappers I already had from customers that ripped packs from my show tables. But once I had the size figured out to frame, I need just a few more to fill the gaps.
Don't remember what year it was when I purchased them, but I remember shelling out $60 for a '72 Basketball pack, and another $60 for an '86 Fleer Basketball pack. Don't cha wanna know what I got inside, besides the wrapper for the display...?
I got squat, nothing but commons. I think James Worthy was the strongest card in the '86 pack, oh well.... It's the fun of the hobby that counts when I look back upon it.

BTW- my favorite (the plum purple 1972 Basketball)
the weakest wrapper on the board (lower left 1990 T Hockey) how did that sneak in there?

  • Ran,

Very nice display. I thought about doing something along those lines but never got around to it.

Send me your address in a pm and I'll send you a nice hockey wrapper from the 70's to replace that 90 Topps.

What was your total cost to build that baby (if I may ask)?

    Great job!

There's nothing more eye-catching and colorful than a bunch of '70s and '80s wax packs or wax pack wrappers grouped together. Looks great!

great display , I have actually been buying penny wrappers and was planning to do the same thing. Now that I have seen one , I will be a little more motivated to find the ones that I am missing. Great Job image

  • Onlypsahockey - The cost of this "project" is interesting because it's not worth it's physical value.
You could probably buy wrappers for $5-10 bucks, but the adventurer in me (or voices inside my head) told me to try the packs.
I put them in a dictionary for a week to flatten, then I glue-sticked them on a blank white paper, frame size is the standard 24" X 36"
I opened these puppies with a butter knife so I wouldn't ruin a $60 wrapper. I know I spent at least $200 to acquire some of them:
$60 for the 86 Fleer Basketball
$60 for the 72 Topps Basketball
$30 for the 85 Topps Hockey
$30 for the 80/81 Topps Bsaketball
plus some additional costs for other misc ones.....

The wrapper-to-card value ratio was not kind to me, from those 4 packs mentioned, I remember getting a 2nd yr Yzerman, a '72 Elvin Hayes, and Joe Bryant (Kobe's Dad) on a 3-panel card

    Hey ran,

I meant the frame itself...plexiglass, back board & trim estimate.

Go into your profile and turn on pm's so I can pm you.

    Thanks, Bob C.

I've seen frames similar to that at michaels. You may want to try there Bob.

  • ranorama,

Wow. Very nice. You've inspired me, too, to organize my wrapper collection and mount them in open displays. I've got some in books now, but you can't beat your idea!

    Very nice...
