Worth Submitting to PSA?

I just busted a bunch of non-sport wax packs from the 1970's/early 80's. Got some nice NM/MT cards, some nice MINT cards and a few that may be GEM MINT, but after seeing selling prices on ebay for 9's - it would seem that if you were in it to make a buck, you would have to hit some 10's to do so. Any thoughts? (obviously older stuff is a different story)

  • I doubt you would make much per card overall, probably not worth the grading fees.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • Nice cards, but on the Star Wars you would have to hit a PSA 10 on one of the 1977 cards to make any money. The ESB wouldn't even break you even in PSA 10...

If you care collecting them for yourself though, it's well worth it!

Non Sports are tough for now. I think it will get stronger as years goes on. I would suggest saving them for a while before grading them to see what happens. I cracked a box of 1st series Star Wars (Blue cards) a while back. I got 1 PSA 10, about 20 or 30 PSA 9's and some PSA 8's. I made money on it but it was back when people were building it and very few were grading them. I sold the 10 for about $60 and like $10-$20 each for the 9's. It wasn't much profit but it was fun. I wouldn't try it now though.

Those numbered Wacky packages won't get you anywhere, even in PSA 10. If they were the ones from the early '70's however, it would be a different story.

Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports
