You are certainly getting there. You sure did pick a tough coin to practice on. Proof Lincolns can give you fits trying to get the color and lighting correct.

I know. I have had more sucess with proof silver so now I am stretching myself

I have tried everything I know how to get a good picture of a lincoln cent. I bought a digital camera (not for coins) about 2years ago. Its a Canon Powershot IS 3.2 megapixel with 10x zoom. Only problem is I cant make close up images. Ive tried manual focus and read the book ten times with no help.

What am I doing wrong? I have to put the camera right down on the coin to see it and it goes out of focus. When I move the camera back and zoom in it goes out of focus. The manual focus range never gets the coin in focus.

Any thoughts?

Taken with OTT light, custom set white balance, f22. Seems to bbe the right color.
