1953 Proof Franklin question

I have 3 1953 Proof Franklin Halves that are "missing" the right eagle wing on the reverse. I guess Missing isn't appropriate, it's more like the "vanishing 3" 03 Lincoln.

I have never owned a 53 pr frankie before so I was just curious if it was a common occurance on the issue, or if there was a known variety, or if anyone cares at all.

I would tell you that the small eagle on the reverse is known for being weakly struck. I have never seen weakly struck Franklin proofs command any type of premium in the marketplace.

That eagle design was used up to 1956. During 1956 a more pronounced eagle design was introduced. The old eagle is the Type 1 (and is rarer for 1956) and the new eagle is the Type 2.
