Cards pulled from Topps base 1 and Heritage!

Topps announces both the recently-released 2006 Topps Baseball Series 1 and the upcoming 2006 Topps Heritage Baseball have a missing card number. Topps Baseball does not include card # 297 while Topps Heritage does not include card # 255. The Topps Heritage Chrome Parallel is also missing card number # 103. The subject originally slated for the missing card numbers was Kansas City Royals prospect Alex Gordon. But because Gordon is not Rookie Card eligible under the new Rookie Card guidelines, he was removed. And because of a timing issue in the manufacturing process, Topps was unable to insert a replacement subject.

Gordon has been replaced on the remaining 2006 Topps branded checklists and will be featured as a prospect card in 2006 Bowman products.

  • Where did you cull that interesting piece of information if I may ask? I looked at the Topps web site and there was nothing there. But it is all very interesting. Good going. Keep our fix alive until the cards arrive!
  • I saw it at the blowout message boards and the poster there saw it at Beckett.

  • I think it's great. Cards pulled. Missing numbers, it will add to the lore of Topps Heritage in years to come.

This is all thanks to the league and their bonehead decision on rookie cards. Companies are going to try to get there guys into products
only to pull the plug at the last moment. This sets up to be potentially distructive to the hobby, especially to rookie card products whose
main draw is a few top rookies.

We like this set, that is great, but we all need to realize that the decision by MLB only waters down this heritage set. Instead of the new
hot rookies on the checklist, we are getting guys who hit .125 last year. Lets hope that topps makes up for it in design and quality!

Im really curious who are the true rookies in this years heritage..anyone?

    Thanks
    Kevin

Mudflap nice find and $75 for the punched out card? If they took the time to punch it out why not pull it all together?
