Ebay Auction Rant.....
I have been searching for unopened mint/proof sets and nothing ticks me off more than "It could be worth 10000.00" "Maybe a franklin in there worth 7500.00". Is it just me?
thanks,

He posts that same picture all the time to get you hooked.....................
The vast majority of my scores have come from opened sets. I've had very few hits from "sealed" sets. I still buy them when I can get them at little premium because every now and then you might get something, and there's little downside as long as you don't overpay. Lately, I haven't bought any because they are going for far more than they're worth.

I was just going to say the same thing. 90% of the sealed sets on E-Bay are repacks! Val Webb is a great source for unopened sets, but he gets them from dealers and with that you never know where they have been. Best bet is to start visiting local dealers (and leave the cameraphone at home!).
<< <i>You me they open them with steam and re-seal them. >>
That's one way, but they don't even have to do that. Unused envelopes are readily available.
